A Conference Visa is compulsory to attend an international conference in India. Other visa categories such as business, tourist, or student visas will not be acceptable for ETD 2026.

Required Documents for Conference Visa

Invitation Letter

You will receive an official invitation from IIT Delhi, complete with the institute’s letterhead and signed by the event convenor. This is required for your visa application. Please contact etd2026@iitd.ac.in for the letter.

Government Clearances

IIT Delhi will secure necessary clearances from the Ministry of Education (MoE) and the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). These will then be forwarded to all international participants.

Passport & Visa Requirements

International attendees must possess a passport with a minimum of six months validity beyond the planned date of departure from India post-conference, along with a valid visa.
A specific “Conference Visa” for ETD 2026 is required to join the conference in India. Other visa types will not be recognised for entry.
Upon arrival, Indian immigration officers will verify your details against the list provided by IIT Delhi to the Ministry of External Affairs. The absence of a proper Conference Visa may result in denial of entry to India.

Terminal Operations Travel to IIT Delhi
Terminal 3 (T3) International & Domestic — primary hub for Air India, IndiGo, and all international carriers. Main arrival point for international passengers. ~16.5 km by road. Approx 16–25 min by taxi/cab (traffic-dependent). By metro: Airport Express to New Delhi, then Yellow Line to Hauz Khas, then Magenta Line to IIT — approx 50 min with 2 interchanges.
Terminal 2 (T2) Domestic only — serves select low-cost carriers. Adjacent to T3. Same travel time and route to IIT Delhi as Terminal 3.
Terminal 1 (T1) Domestic only — serves low-cost carriers (IndiGo, SpiceJet). Divided into T1C (Arrivals) and T1D (Departures). Located ~8 km from T3. T1 metro station is on the Magenta Line, which connects directly to IIT Delhi metro station — approx 49 min by metro. Taxi/cab approx 20–30 min (traffic-dependent).

The Airport Express Metro connects Terminal 3 directly to New Delhi Railway Station in approximately 20 minutes (trains every 10–15 mins, 4:45 AM – 11:30 PM).
